WOMEN'S HEALTH

Personalised chiropractic care to support your body through every stage of life.

At Triumph Chiropractic LDN, we see many women whose bodies are adapting to change: monthly cycles, pregnancy, life after birth, perimenopause and menopause. Each stage brings its own physical demands, and the aches, stiffness and tension that come with them can affect everyday life, from sleeping and working to exercising and caring for your family.

Hormonal changes can influence ligament laxity, muscle tone, joint comfort and bone density. Add the physical load of carrying a baby, feeding, lifting a toddler or long days at a desk, and the body often compensates in ways that build up over time. We take an individualised approach, combining McTimoney chiropractic, medical acupuncture, soft tissue work and rehabilitation exercises to help you move with greater comfort and confidence.

Do you identify with one of these? Common reasons women visit our Notting Hill clinic:

  • Lower back and pelvic pain during or after pregnancy

  • Pelvic girdle pain and sacroiliac (SI) joint discomfort

  • Abdominal separation (diastasis recti) after birth

  • Neck, shoulder and upper back tension from feeding and carrying

  • Painful periods with associated lower back ache

  • Wrist and hand pain, including carpal tunnel symptoms

  • Tension headaches

  • Hip, knee and general joint stiffness during perimenopause and menopause

  • Postural changes and rounded upper back

  • Returning to exercise after pregnancy or a break from activity

Menstrual Health

Many women experience lower back, pelvic and hip discomfort around their period. Gentle chiropractic care, soft tissue work and medical acupuncture may help ease associated muscular tension, alongside advice on movement and posture.

Pregnancy

As your baby grows, your centre of gravity shifts and the hormone relaxin softens your ligaments. This can place extra strain on the lower back, pelvis and hips. McTimoney chiropractic is a gentle, whole-body technique that is well suited to pregnancy. Find out more on our [Pregnancy & Maternity] page.

Postpartum Recovery

The months after birth bring new physical demands: feeding positions, lifting car seats and buggies, and broken sleep. We assess how your body is recovering, including your pelvis, spine and abdominal wall, and build a plan to help you rebuild strength and return to the activities you enjoy.

Perimenopause and Menopause

Falling oestrogen levels can affect muscles, joints and connective tissue, and many women notice new aches, stiffness or reduced mobility during this time. Our care focuses on keeping you moving well, supporting posture and joint health, and giving you practical exercises to stay strong and active.

Bone Health and Posture

Bone density naturally declines after menopause. Maintaining good posture, balance and strength becomes increasingly important. Our assessments look at how you load your body, and we adapt our techniques to suit your individual needs.

Your chiropractic care plan will typically include some rehabilitation exercises and stretches, advice around ergonomics, building body awareness, and postural education.

Women's Health â€‹â€‹FAQs

1. Is it safe to see a chiropractor while pregnant?

Yes, seeing a registered chiropractor is generally considered safe during pregnancy. At our Ladbroke Grove clinic, we use McTimoney chiropractic, a gentle technique with light, precise adjustments and no forceful twisting. We adapt your treatment position with supportive cushions as your bump grows, take a full health history at your first visit, and liaise with your midwife or GP where appropriate.

2. Can a chiropractor help with pelvic girdle pain and SPD?

Chiropractic care may help ease pelvic girdle pain (PGP), sometimes called symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), during and after pregnancy. We assess how your pelvis, lower back and hips are moving and sharing load. We then use gentle adjustments, soft tissue work and tailored exercises to help you move more comfortably through everyday activities like walking, climbing stairs and turning over in bed.

3. When can I see a chiropractor after giving birth?

Most women can see a chiropractor within a few weeks of a vaginal birth, as soon as they feel comfortable to travel. After a caesarean section, we usually recommend waiting until after your six-week postnatal check. Postnatal chiropractic care is always gentle and adapted to your recovery, and you're welcome to bring your baby to your appointment in West London.

4. Can a chiropractor fix diastasis recti?

A chiropractor can't close an abdominal separation on its own, but we can support your recovery. We check the width and depth of the gap, look at how your ribcage, pelvis and spine are working together, and guide you through targeted core rehabilitation exercises. Where needed, we'll refer you to a women's health (pelvic floor) physiotherapist for specialist care.

5. Why do my joints hurt more during menopause?

Joint pain during perimenopause and menopause is common because falling oestrogen levels affect joints, muscles and connective tissue. Many women notice new stiffness, aches in the hips, knees, hands or shoulders, and slower recovery after exercise. A chiropractic assessment can identify which areas are under strain. Hands-on treatment, medical acupuncture and a personalised exercise plan can help you stay mobile and active.

6. Can a chiropractor help with period pain and lower back pain?

Many women experience lower back, hip and pelvic aches around their period. Chiropractic care, soft tissue work and medical acupuncture may help relieve the associated muscular tension in the lower back and pelvis. If your period pain is severe or has changed, we'll recommend you speak to your GP to rule out underlying gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis.

7. Do I need a GP referral to see a women's health chiropractor in London?

No, you don't need a GP referral to book with Triumph Chiropractic LDN. At our Ladbroke Grove clinic, you can book online or arrange a free 15-minute discovery call via WhatsApp. If your assessment suggests you need further investigation or a different type of care, we'll let you know and refer you on.
