CHIROPRACTIC FAQs
What is chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosing and treating problems with the spine, joints, and nervous system to reduce pain and improve overall health.

General Questions

Q: How long will my adjustment take?
A: The adjustment process is quick and efficient, appointments are 15 minutes long - this includes formalities and scheduling. It is important to note that the consistency of care is what drives healing. Healing does takes time, and patience with your body is essential. Typically, function before pain decreases.

Q: Do I need to remove any clothing for my appointment?
A: Generally no, although its highly recommended to wear lighter flexible clothes if possible. Shoes, belts, bulky jewellery and any other items that make it difficult to adjust will need to be removed. In the case of dry-needling, we would remove any clothing needed.

Q: What conditions can chiropractic treat?
A: Common issues include back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, joint pain, and sports injuries. Some chiropractors also help with posture and preventive care.

Q: What is a Discovery Call?
A: A 15-minute free phone consultation to discuss your concerns and explore how chiropractic care could benefit you.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We understand life can be unpredictable, however we do ask that you give us as much notice as possible for cancellations so we can offer the appointment to another patient. Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment will result in a 50% charge in the first instance if your appointment cannot be rescheduled for the same week. Thereon, late cancellations will be charged at 100%. Any no-shows will be charged in full.

Treatment and Techniques

Q: What techniques do you use?
A: Techniques include manual spinal and extremity adjustments, spinal-structural correction, activator, and gentle mobilisations, and dry-needling.

Q: How often will I need treatment?
A: Frequency depends on your condition. Acute pain may require multiple visits per week, while maintenance care is often monthly or as needed. It's important to note that pain is not a reliable indicator of how well the nervous system is working, pain is often the last alarm bell to ring before we take action, which is why maintenance care is recommended.

Lifestyle and Preventive Care

Q: Can chiropractic prevent future injuries?
A: Regular care can improve joint function, flexibility, and balance, reducing the risk of injuries.

Q: How can I maintain results at home?
A: Follow your chiropractor’s exercises, stay active, maintain good posture, and use proper lifting techniques.

Q: Should I still see a Chiropractor if I'm not in any pain?
A: Yes! If you go to the gym once a month, you can expect different results compared with going to the gym three time a week. Your car still gets an MOT once a year. A chiropractic check-up is an incredible addition to maintaining optimal spinal and nervous system function. Research shows that pain is not a reliable indicator of how well the body and nervous system are doing, and stress on the spine can show up decades down the line in many forms. Taking a preventative approach to spinal care is a positive action towards longevity, rather than reacting when you are in pain in the short-term. Chiropractic is part of a healthy lifestyle!

Misconceptions

Q: Isn’t chiropractic just cracking your back?
A: No. Adjustments are precise, movements aimed at improving joint and nerve function—not just making noise.

Q: Will I need to go forever once I start chiropractic care?
A: Not necessarily. Some patients need short-term care, while others choose occasional maintenance visits for overall wellness.

Q: Can chiropractic cure diseases like asthma or diabetes?
A: No. Chiropractic can support health by improving mobility and nerve function but does not cure systemic diseases.
